Movement and daily skills
- Both hands may work on one job — holding a container steady while the other hand fills it.
- Turning the pages of a sturdy book gets more controlled, though several pages at once is still usual.
Language and thinking
- Short combinations of words may become possible. They are not required at this age, and understanding still runs ahead of speaking.
- A familiar two-part routine can often be followed when the situation itself carries half the meaning.
Social and emotional development
- Matching an object to what it is usually for — a brush to hair, a cup to mouth — may show up in play.
- Playing beside another child with more awareness of them is the step before playing together.
Try together
Give them a sturdy board book and let them turn the pages at their own pace, even when several go at once.
