1. Who is responsible for your data

ParentSide is a product operated by Kadir Nezih Elgün, an individual established in Türkiye. There is no separate company behind it — ParentSide is the name of the service, and the data controller is the person named above.

For anything in this notice, including requests about your own data, write to kvkk@parentside.app.

2. What this notice covers

It covers the ParentSide website and application at parentside.app: the public pages anyone can read, and the signed-in product — Today, Community, Ask Parents, ParentTable, Baby Names, Services and bookings.

This is a privacy notice and a KVKK disclosure. It is not a contract, not terms of use, not a consent form, and not medical guidance. ParentSide is not a healthcare provider and does not create medical records.

3. What personal data ParentSide processes

In plain categories rather than database fields:

  • Account and sign-in information — your email address, and information about whether your address has been confirmed.
  • Profile information — the name you choose to show, an avatar you pick from a fixed set, and optionally a phone number and city.
  • Parenting stage and interests — where you are in your journey, and the topics you want to see.
  • Pregnancy and family information — where you provide it, so the product can show what is relevant to you.
  • Information about your children — where you provide it, for the same reason.
  • Daily check-ins — how you say you are feeling, and any note you add.
  • Community activity — posts, comments, reactions, and reports you send about content.
  • Ask Parents activity — questions you open, answers and replies you write, whether you marked an answer helpful, and a temporary record of which questions were shown to you.
  • ParentTable activity — meet-ups you create or join, and messages in a table's conversation.
  • Services and bookings — bookings you make, the contact number you give for a call, and reviews you leave.
  • Invitations — an email address you enter to invite someone.
  • Technical information — the usual records a website and its hosting produce, such as request and error logs.

If you apply to offer services on ParentSide, more is processed about you as a provider. That is covered in section 11.

4. Why ParentSide processes it

  • To create and secure your account, confirm your email address and let you sign in.
  • To run the product you asked for — showing content that fits your stage, your Community group, and meet-ups near you.
  • To let you take part: posting, commenting, joining a ParentTable, booking a session.
  • To show an Ask Parents question to parents whose own stage suggests they may have relevant experience, to widen that gradually while it is unanswered, and to avoid asking the same parents repeatedly.
  • To keep the space safe — reviewing reports, moderating content, and preventing abuse.
  • To answer you when you contact us, including privacy requests.
  • To keep the service working and diagnose faults.
  • To meet obligations that apply to us.
ParentSide processes personal data within the processing conditions set out in the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698. The detailed mapping of each purpose to its specific legal ground is still with legal review, and will be stated here once that review is complete.

5. How it is collected

Almost everything comes directly from you, through the app — when you sign up, complete onboarding, check in, post, join a table or make a booking. Some technical information is produced automatically when your browser talks to our servers.

ParentSide does not buy personal data, does not enrich your profile from outside sources, and does not collect data about you from other services.

6. Pregnancy and family information

Some of what ParentSide holds is closer to you than an email address. If you tell us you are pregnant, or share dates about a pregnancy, that information is used to show you what is relevant for where you are, and — if you use Ask Parents — to decide which parents may be shown a question you open and which questions are shown to you. It is not used for anything else.

ParentSide is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, does not treat, and does not keep a health record about you. Content in the product is general information, not advice about your situation.

Information of this kind may fall into a category the Law treats with additional protection. How that classification applies to ParentSide, and on what basis this information is processed, is still with legal review and will be stated here once that review is complete. If you close your account, this information is removed as described in section 17.

7. Information about children

A child does not have a ParentSide account and is not a user of the service. Where information about a child exists, the parent or account holder provided it.

That can include a first name or nickname, a date of birth, and gender. It is used to work out a child's age so the product can show age-appropriate content — a development note, a meal idea suited to that age. If you use Ask Parents, it also helps work out which parents may have relevant experience of the same age.

The treatment of children's information, including its legal basis, is still with legal review and will be stated here once that review is complete. If you close your account, information you entered about your child is removed as described in section 17.

8. Community and anonymous posting

What you post in Community is visible to other signed-in parents in your group. Other parents see the display name and avatar you chose — not your email, phone number, city or stage.

You can choose to post anonymously. Other parents then see the post without your name attached.

Anonymous posting hides your identity from other parents. It does not make a post untraceable: ParentSide still holds the link between the post and the account, because moderation, abuse prevention, safety and any legal obligation depend on it. If that matters to you, please treat anonymous posting as a display choice rather than as technical anonymity.

If you report a post or comment, your report and any description you add are kept so it can be reviewed and acted on.

If you later close your account, posts and replies that are part of a conversation with other parents can remain, but they are no longer connected to your profile. Section 16 explains this.

9. Ask Parents

Ask Parents is where you can open a question about something you are going through, so that other parents can answer from their own experience. What you write there — the question, any context you add, answers, follow-up replies, and whether you marked an answer helpful — is visible to other signed-in parents. A question is not a Community post: it stays available so that parents who reach the same point later can read it. If you report something in Ask Parents, your report and any description you add are kept so they can be reviewed and acted on.

So that a question reaches parents who may have lived through the same thing, ParentSide uses what you have already told it about where you are: your stage, and where relevant a pregnancy week or a child's age. The same information decides which questions are shown to you, and helps identify the questions your own experience might answer. A question is shown to other parents gradually rather than to everyone at once. These are fixed rules applied to information you gave us — not a system that studies you, and not artificial intelligence.

To do that without asking the same parents over and over, ParentSide records which questions were shown to which parents. That record is kept in a form that identifies a parent for thirty days. After that it is removed, or reduced to counts that are not connected to anyone. It is used to run Ask Parents and to see where it is not working — never to build a picture of what you read.

You can ask anonymously. Other parents then see the question without your name. Where a question is anonymous, ParentSide does not show your exact stage beside it — a pregnancy week, or a child's age in months, can identify someone on its own — and shows either a broad description or nothing at all. The exact information is still used behind the scenes to decide who is shown the question.

As in Community, asking anonymously hides your identity from other parents. It does not make the question untraceable: ParentSide still holds the link between the question and the account, because moderation, abuse prevention and safety depend on it.

A person at ParentSide looks at a question before other parents are asked to take part, and may decide it should not be put to the community at all. Some questions are not suitable to put to other parents — one asking what dose of a medicine to give, which medicine to use, whether to stop a treatment, or for a diagnosis. Where that is recognised the question is not sent to other parents, and you are pointed to a more appropriate source instead. That recognition uses fixed wording rules rather than artificial intelligence, and it is deliberately narrow: it sits beneath the human review rather than replacing it. Answers and replies can be reported and moderated in the same way as Community content.

Beside the parent experiences on a question, ParentSide may show a link to general information from an official health source. The two are kept apart on purpose: what parents write is their own experience, and the linked material is general information from that source. Neither becomes advice about your situation, and ParentSide does not add medical wording of its own.

If you close your account, questions, answers and replies you wrote behave like Community content: they can remain as part of a conversation, but are no longer connected to your profile. The record of which questions were shown to you is removed. Section 17 explains this.

10. ParentTable

A ParentTable is a small in-person meet-up. When one is listed, other signed-in parents can see its title, general venue name, area, city, time and how many seats are left.

The exact address is deliberately not part of that. It is held separately and is available only to parents who have taken a seat, the parent who created the table, and administrators. Who is attending is restricted the same way — someone browsing cannot see the guest list.

Messages in a table's conversation are visible to that table's participants. Notifications about a table are visible to the person they are sent to.

If the parent who created a table closes their account, a table that has not happened yet is cancelled and the parents who had taken a seat are told in the app. The exact address is removed at that point. Section 16 explains what happens to the rest.

11. Services, providers and bookings

If you book a session, ParentSide processes the booking itself — what was booked, when, its status, and the contact number you provide so the session details can reach you. A booked session involves the provider delivering it, so the information needed to hold the session is shared with them.

Card payment is not currently live in ParentSide. If and when it is enabled, the payment itself will be carried out by a payment provider rather than by ParentSide, and this notice will be updated to say who that is before it goes live.

If you apply to offer services, ParentSide processes your application — your name, email, phone, city, professional background and anything you write in it — along with any credentials you submit for review. For approved providers who are paid through ParentSide, information needed to make and document that payment is also processed, including bank and tax details. Those details are never shown publicly and are restricted to the people who need them for payouts and record-keeping.

12. Invitations

ParentSide includes a feature that lets a member enter a friend's email address to invite them. When that happens, the address is recorded against the invitation.

The invitation email feature is not operational at the moment: no invitation email is currently sent. An address entered this way is not used for marketing, is not added to any mailing list, and is not used for any purpose other than the invitation. If the member who sent the invitation closes their ParentSide account, the invitation record — including the address they entered — is removed with it.

If someone has entered your address and you would like it removed, write to kvkk@parentside.app and it will be deleted.

13. Service providers

ParentSide does not run its own servers. Three providers are involved in delivering the service, and personal data passes through them:

  • A hosting and application-delivery provider, which runs the website and the server-side parts of the product.
  • A database and authentication provider, which stores the data described above and handles sign-in, email confirmation and password reset.
  • An email delivery provider, which sends the emails ParentSide needs to send — including the Yanındaki Kişi invitation and, after it is accepted, the twice-weekly suggestions. It receives the recipient's name and email address in order to deliver them.

Beyond those, information is shared with a provider when you book a session with them, and may be disclosed where we are legally required to do so.

ParentSide does not sell personal data, and does not share it with advertisers, ad networks or data brokers. There is no advertising in the product.

14. Processing outside Türkiye

The providers described above operate internationally, and some of the processing involved in running ParentSide takes place outside Türkiye.

The specific locations, and the transfer mechanism that applies under the Law, are still being confirmed as part of legal review. This section will state them precisely once that review is complete.

15. Usage measurement

ParentSide is not currently running any usage analytics. No analytics script loads, no page views are recorded and no usage events are sent.

A privacy-conscious, aggregate measurement approach has been prepared, and may be switched on after this disclosure and the associated legal review are complete. It is built so that:

  • no account identifier, email address or persistent ParentSide identifier is sent;
  • signed-in areas — Today, Community, Ask Parents, ParentTable, notifications, profile, bookings and administration — are excluded from automatic page measurement;
  • web addresses sent for measurement carry no query parameters;
  • the small number of explicit events carry only controlled values, such as which language the page was in;
  • no free text — no post, comment, message, check-in note or search term — is ever included;
  • there is no session replay, no screen or input recording, no heatmap, and no advertising pixel.
Whether this measurement runs on consent or on another basis under the Law is part of the pending legal review, and it will not be switched on before that is settled. This section will be updated to describe what actually runs, at the point it runs.

16. How long data is kept

Personal data is kept only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, and for as long as any legal obligation requires. After that it is deleted, anonymised or otherwise dealt with as required.

ParentSide does not run deletion automatically on a schedule: nothing is removed simply because time has passed. Information is kept while it is needed to provide and manage the service, and for as long as an operational or legal reason requires. Your check-ins and the rest of your account history stay with your account for as long as it is open. Closing your account removes what that process covers; section 17 sets out both what it removes and what is kept. You can also make a written request — see section 20. If specific periods are set for particular categories, they will be stated here. One is: the record of which Ask Parents questions were shown to which parents, described in section 9.

17. Closing your account

You can close your ParentSide account yourself, from your profile. Closing an account cannot be undone, and it is not the same as signing out.

Before an account is closed, you are asked to enter your current password. That is only to confirm the request is really coming from you, so that someone using an unattended device cannot close your account. The password is checked at that moment and is not kept as part of the record described at the end of this section.

Closing an account removes your account and profile, your journey and pregnancy details, what you entered about your child, your check-ins and their history, what was used to personalise your daily suggestions, your community memberships and support reactions, the record of which Ask Parents questions were shown to you, invitations you sent, your own notifications, your reviews, and any feedback you sent us.

Posts and replies you wrote in Community, and questions, answers and replies you wrote in Ask Parents, may remain, because they are part of conversations other parents took part in and removing one side of a conversation would break it for everyone else. Where that happens the content is no longer connected to your profile: your display name and picture come off it, and it appears as coming from a former member. Anything you shared anonymously stays anonymous. What other parents wrote is not affected.

If you created a ParentTable that has not happened yet, closing your account cancels it and the parents who had taken a seat are told in the app that it was cancelled. The exact address of any table you created is removed. For tables that have already taken place, the general record of the meet-up can remain so the other participants' history is not destroyed, without being connected to your profile.

Some records are kept after an account is closed, because they are needed for something other than running your profile. That includes bookings, payment and settlement history, and anything relating to a refund or dispute, which are needed for payment, accounting and record-keeping; and reports and moderation records, which are needed for safety, for handling reports and for preventing abuse. These are held separately and are not part of an active profile. Where your identity is not needed for that purpose, it is taken off them.

A short record that an account closure took place is also kept. It shows that the operation happened, when, whether it completed, and which broad categories of data were affected. It does not contain your name, your email address, an identifier for your account, or any copy of what was removed — it is a record of the operation, not of you. Keeping such a record is a legal requirement: under Article 7 of the Regulation on the Deletion, Destruction or Anonymisation of Personal Data, all deletion, destruction and anonymisation operations must be recorded, and those records kept for at least three years. The three years applies to that record of the operation. It is not a period for which your removed information is kept.

Closing your account is not the only way to exercise your rights and does not replace them. You can still make a written request about anything in section 19 — see section 20.

18. Security

ParentSide uses technical and organisational measures appropriate to the service, including access controls at the database level so that people can reach only the records they are entitled to, and restrictions on private information such as a ParentTable's exact address.

No online service can promise perfect security, and this notice does not make that promise. If a problem occurs that affects your personal data, we will act on it in line with what is required of us.

19. Your rights

Under Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, you may apply to the data controller and ask:

  • whether your personal data is being processed;
  • for information about it, if it has been processed;
  • what the purpose of processing is, and whether it is being used in line with that purpose;
  • who your personal data has been transferred to, in Türkiye or abroad;
  • for it to be corrected, if it has been processed incompletely or inaccurately;
  • for it to be erased or destroyed, within the conditions set out in Article 7 of the Law;
  • for a correction, erasure or destruction to be notified to any third party the data was transferred to;
  • to object to a result reached against you by analysis carried out solely through automated systems;
  • for your loss to be compensated, if you have suffered loss because personal data was processed unlawfully.

20. Making a privacy request

Write to kvkk@parentside.app. Tell us what you would like done — a copy of your data, a correction, deletion of your account, or anything else in section 19 — and we will handle it.

One of these you can now do yourself: your account can be closed from your profile, as described in section 17. Everything else is handled by a person, because ParentSide does not offer in-app data export. Closing your account yourself neither limits nor replaces any of the rights in section 19.

We may need to confirm that the request is really coming from you before acting on it, so that someone else cannot obtain or delete your data. We will ask for as little as possible to do that. When you close your account in the app, that confirmation is the password step described in section 17.

A request is answered as soon as we reasonably can. Where the Law's rule on applications to a data controller applies, Article 13 of Law No. 6698 requires it to be concluded free of charge as soon as possible and within thirty days at the latest, depending on what is being asked.

21. Updates to this notice

As ParentSide changes, this notice will change with it. When something meaningful changes, the updated notice is published here with a new date.

This notice applies from the date it was published on this page.
