- Some babies sit more steadily and become more expressive.

How your baby is developing
- Reaching for a toy they want is common around six months, and the reach may now start before the toy is even settled.
- Objects may be turned and looked at from more than one side, as though the far side were a separate question.
- An object may travel from one hand to the other during play. It often looks accidental well before it looks decided.
- Pushing up with straight arms during front-lying play is common around six months.
- Position may change during floor play without anyone intending it — a pivot, a lean, a roll that ends somewhere new.
- Taking turns making sounds with you, and squealing or laughing during play, is typical around six months.
- Turns may last a little longer than they did — two or three exchanges rather than one.
Everyday care and connection
- Placing a light toy slightly to one side during supervised floor play invites a reach without any prompting.
- Offering a second light object while one is already held lets the swap happen on its own.
- Clear space on both sides matters more now than any particular toy.
- Copy the sound they make, then wait. The waiting is what makes it a conversation.
How you may be feeling
- More interaction can be delightful and demanding at once.
